Just like any spiritual path, it’s not always wonderful.
You might think that meeting your “other half” is a fabulous, fulfilling experience. Finding that kind of pure love should be blissful, right? But there’s a dark side to this journey that may not seem obvious.
True love can be scary to some. To others, the person they love may behave unpredictably, leaving them with a myriad of emotions that are hard to process. It forces the best of us to face ourselves, which can take us to uncharted inner territory. It can be the beginning of a dark night of the soul.
It doesn’t make sense that love would be this difficult to attain even when you’ve found your twin flame, but that’s the irony of it.
Twin Flames Make You Question Everything
Twin flames can bring confusion into your life. Even the most “healed” of us can face darkness when we meet our twin flames. Why? Because meeting someone who mirrors you will call into question anything in your shadow that you haven’t faced or dealt with yet. It also brings in a series of events that are hard to survive or comprehend with a positive outlook.
You may think you have everything figured out — especially spiritually. Then your twin flame comes along and blows that all up.
When you focus only on love and how the journey gives you enlightened wisdom, you aren’t seeing the whole picture. There is excruciating pain in being “separate” from your twin flame, no matter how much preparation and spiritual work you’ve done.
I thought I knew everything about being ‘aligned’ and spiritual. I assumed that if I walked a pure path, only good, easy things would happen to me along it. When I met my twin flame, I thought I’d attracted twin flame love as a karmic debt repayment from all the difficult relationships I’d had to go through until then, such as my first marriage. Love found me, and there I was, innocently believing we’d live happily ever after! But the universe had other plans for me, and although it wasn’t the easy, blissful path I imagined, it was the one that was best for my soul growth.
Twin Flames Can Shock You
Unless you’ve entered the darkness, you haven’t experienced the full spectrum of the twin flame journey. It scares you on a fundamental level. What may happen after you meet your twin flame can be shocking.
There are many stories of deep, shocking realizations that people have had when meeting their twin flame. My twin flame died shortly after I met him, and I never saw that coming! My clients tell me stories about the twists and turns of their journeys, facing realizations that feel like lightning striking.
It is never boring on the twin flame journey.
It makes you take a deep look in a mirror. Some things you see may be very uncomfortable. Obsessions are hard to deal with and hard to shake off. They can eat away at even the strongest of us. And grief is the most difficult of all emotions to carry — may we all find our own ways to heal from a loss!
Twin Flames and Dark Realizations
Dark realizations about who you are, what you have done before now (in this life or a previous one), and what you need to change may be hard to swallow. There is an added layer of understanding your role in this reality as a human being. The purpose of existence may not be what you thought. You have to let go of nearly everything on this journey, and that can be excruciating.
Painful lessons may be the greatest gift you can get from the universe, but they are hard to learn and integrate. Nobody would ever knowingly ask for such an experience, and yet it is a beautiful one, in the end. Nothing else can teach you so much about yourself.
The Spiritual Path Isn’t All Light
For most people, adapting to this twin flame journey requires a monumental effort in changing the trajectory of relationships, careers, beliefs, and goals.
There’s a dark side to life that spiritual seekers inevitably come across on their path. Twin flames show us what that means.
There are people who are spiritual leaders with thousands of followers who’ve met their twin flames, and it calls everything they believe in into question. They’re left in the darkness of doubt. Imagine that. Some of us have built a whole life upon our spiritual belief systems and have preached it, only to find out that we had focused only on love and light and left out a big piece of the path to spiritual enlightenment.
