Should We Use Tarot to Predict the Future?

When I read tarot for clients, I don’t like to use it for predicting the future. While getting premonitions is certainly possible, I like to have those kinds of messages come through when they aren’t forced. If I am asking about the future, I know that spirit guides and the other forces that help me read the cards won’t give me a straight answer unless it’s something that I need to know or say. They would let me have that message without asking for it. We are alive as humans on a timeline and with freewill – if we try to know things that are behind a veil, we are disturbing the natural order of things.

There’s a reason we shouldn’t know the future — it’s supposed to be that way. Perhaps we can predict the future through the Tarot, but I don’t advise trying to do this. We have to be ignorant of what’s coming, otherwise, life would be boring. Souls don’t come here to be human so that everything is predictable and known. They came to experience blindness and uncertainty.

I do tarot readings for clarity on present spiritual lessons. I try not to use tarot to predict the future. I’ll explain why.

I Read Tarot to Heal

My life goal is to help as many people as I can with my intuitive gifts. It isn’t helpful to people for them to know the future — to know how events will unfold in their lives.

People want to know if love is coming, if they’ll get that promotion, or what will happen when they move to a new city. My clients are looking for meaningful answers to these kinds of questions. But the way I read tarot is mainly for spiritual growth purposes. If I ask the cards, “What will happen if I make this choice?” I expect the answer to be very spiritual in nature — meaning that I will get an answer about what it has to do with my soul growth instead of what surface-level situation I’ll find myself in.

Knowing why you’re going through something in the present is far more healing than knowing what’s going to happen to you. Everything you’re facing in this life is designed to help you level up spiritually. You must learn your lessons. I read tarot to reveal those lessons, not to see into the future.

If you knew the future, you wouldn’t learn anything. It would defeat the purpose of being here at all since the soul came here to learn. So, that’s one reason not to use tarot to predict the future.

The Future is Behind a Veil

Often, the cards will show me that I am not supposed to know what’s about to happen. If I ask about the future I’ll often get the Wheel of Fortune card or The Devil card — meaning that I shouldn’t be trying to ask questions about the future. That’s focusing on the wrong thing.

My clients and I might want to know the outcome of a certain decision or how a relationship is going to develop, but there are simply things that no one can know. The future is behind a veil of human knowledge — if it’s knowable at all. Being human is exciting because there’s an element of freewill. We have the experience of randomness and uncertainty.

We simply don’t know for sure, while we’re here, whether there is freewill and whether we can alter the future.

We experience the future as something mysterious. We perceive that it is open to many possibilities. The tarot cards can’t change that.

Sure, sometimes the cards give us warnings about what not to do, or even future predictions. But this is not my intention when I sit down with a client for a reading. My goal is to help us understand the lessons behind life, not to see into the future.

Ask for Advice Instead

The cards have no problem giving advice. Often, the hardest thing is to break a cycle. The cards will tell us how to do this so we can be free of our mental stresses. It’s not like it solves all our problems to know spiritual advice — the hardest thing is to follow that advice.

I’m just a channel for your messages. I can’t hold your hand through the changes you must make in your life. But I can ask the spirits for advice that you need in the present moment.
