It’s more than mental health, it’s about creating focus and self-awareness at a soul level.
Your soul yearns to create. You have a vision and a mission, and you burn with the desire to see them manifest into the world. Have you ever wondered what gives you this inner purpose? Do you understand the connection between your desire and the way you work? Meditation is essential to creators and entrepreneurs because it helps us connect with the deepest reasons for what we’re doing. Then, we can go on to act and create effortlessly.
I’m a meditation teacher. I lead meditations frequently on the topic of connection with soul purpose. When you meditate, you look deeply within and find truth in the inner stillness. There is so much to be learned about the self that gets ignored in daily life with all of its busy activity and distractions.
Anyone who is trying to start a side hustle or create a new business has a lot on their plate. They tackle enormous to-do lists daily. But before starting the work, it’s so important to set intentions with meditation.
Let’s dive into some reasons why meditation is both rewarding and necessary for your business and creative goals. You’ll see that the benefits are incredible.
Meditate on your desire to get clarity.
Meditation helps you get clear on your desires. Sometimes it’s hard to settle into our minds and define what we want without distraction unless we take the time to meditate.
All you need for this practice is to sit comfortably and just sink into the stillness. For some people, it takes repetition to really begin to produce results — this is why we call it a “practice”, after all. It’s worth your time to do this, especially as an entrepreneur, because your awareness of your desires is important.
Just try to let your mind settle to get more clear on your thoughts.
Before starting your work every day, take five minutes at a minimum to close your eyes and see your goals and desires in your mind’s eye. You can ask yourself clearly: what do I really want?
Then you just focus on your intuition (without expectation) for the answer to appear. This works for me every time!
If you can define your desires clearly, then you can work toward them in a more linear way.
Meditate to connect with your ‘why’.
Once you meditate on what you want, it’s very useful to move toward understanding your reasons for what you’re doing. The next question you can ask during meditation is: why am I working on this? Wait for the answer to come.
As a creator, you already feel drawn toward what you’re working on. But maybe sometimes you stray from the path, getting distracted by things that aren’t conducive to your goals. Maybe you’re being pulled toward focusing on things that aren’t serving you. Maybe you’ve forgotten why you started your project in the first place and you need a reminder.
This is why it’s really important to meditate on your ‘why’ every day so that you can remember the journey you’re on.
No matter where you’re at with your work, meditating is super useful because it sets your intentions. Remind yourself of your ‘why’ in meditation every day so you can start your creations with a clear and focused mind.
Meditate to understand your soul purpose.
It goes so much deeper. Meditation can go beyond your current ‘why’ to your life’s ‘why’ so you can regain your connection with your soul purpose. You have something in this life you yearn to do — maybe many things.
Only you can know what your soul purpose is, and only in meditation will it get really obvious.
Next time you meditate, ask yourself: what is my purpose?
In your mind, the answer will appear. This answer is essential to your life and your work, and it will fuel the answers to the other questions that you pose about desires and goals.
Sometimes when we ask such important questions, we get unexpected answers. Sometimes they trigger emotion. These are good things. It means that things are surfacing that needed to come up. Things that were buried will need to be dealt with. It might involve a little pain. Whatever these things are, when you place your attention on them, it will help you heal and move forward as a better person.
If they are very surprising, you might even feel inspired to re-align your work or change focus.
You might feel pushed to pivot. Don’t be afraid of pivoting.
Meditate daily before starting your important work.
To get the most out of your meditation practice, it’s recommended to meditate as soon as you wake up in the morning. When your mind is at its clearest, after a night of detoxifying sleep, you can find the most clarity. Before your mind starts to get busy, take advantage of this quiet time to look within and ask the questions I described above.
After doing this daily for just a few days, you should start to see great payoffs. You’ll feel less confused and more motivated in what you’re working on. Your life’s path and all your business decisions will become a little smoother. life will become effortless and enjoyable.
Meditation does wonders, but it requires commitment.
