We all have our moments when we need to halt inner work and relax

Spiritual exhaustion afflicts most of us at some point on our journey toward enlightenment. I probably shouldn’t be writing this while I’m spiritually exhausted. However, I believe there’s no better time to be able to fully convey what is going on when you’re exhausted.

If you’ve ever felt fatigued for no physical reason and you just can’t fully engage in spiritual activities for a short time, then you are probably on the same page here. Sometimes we just reach our limit of spiritual awakening for a day and we want to crawl into a cave. We have been overloaded with spiritual transformation and our small energy fields and brains can’t take much more!

But we must press on eventually.

When you’re spiritually exhausted, make no mistake: you’re on the right path. So, you can’t just go back into the matrix and start living mindlessly again.

Spiritual exhaustion means you’ve taken on more information and shifts in perception than your mind can handle. The fact that you were even willing to do this means that you have an open mind, a trait that most people don’t possess. So, be kind to yourself.

Causes of Spiritual Exhaustion

Major periods of transformation are the number one cause of spiritual exhaustion. In your first awakening, you will feel it because your whole worldview is shifting drastically from a purely physical, materialistic lifestyle to one that includes unseen and mysterious aspects. You’re allowing yourself to explore new planes of existence.

There’s no way you can change so quickly and so completely without there being some level of tiredness.

For me, it shows up in my sleep patterns. There will be multiple periods of spiritual awakening in your path, and each time, you might find yourself sleeping poorly and/or waking up in the morning exhausted. This is because in your sleep, when you’re reconnecting to your higher self and working problems out in the divine realm, you’re doing extra work.

You’re traveling further. You’re healing things within you that have been sitting there a long time.

In my awakenings, I feel every morning as if I’ve been journeying across the entire universe and back.

It’s not just in sleep, however. When you pursue transformation consciously, you accept the fact that big things are going to happen to you. When you ask for healing and intentionally try to change yourself, you are working harder in your energetic plane than you ever have before.

Ask for healing, and be prepared for pain. Transformation hurts, baby.

It will always be beautiful pain and beautiful exhaustion.

Spiritual Exhaustion Symptoms

When I wake up feeling exhausted, it doesn’t manifest physically. My body is fine. It’s as if something has shifted in me overnight and I’m a new person.

It’s like when you work out a lot and your muscles are sore the next day. The energies in you are being stretched and they are at their maximum operating capacity.

Another way to look at it is that you feel like you’re being born. Birth is painful, and you’re both giving birth to yourself and being born at the same time, which is very labor-intensive. After such a feat, you need rest.

You might feel low. You might feel like you can’t take another spiritual thing in your life today. You can’t think about psychic phenomena or pull tarot cards, and reading horoscopes seems to burn out your brain. Just rest instead.

You may not be able to explain why you’re feeling like you’re out of energy to others. All you know is that you’re changing at breakneck speed and you’ve got to slow down.

How to Become Better

Learning to take care of yourself and allow time to heal is the most important thing you can do in this situation of spiritual exhaustion. But be careful not to take care of your ego, though — instead, take care of your soul.

What I mean is that you need to soothe yourself on the level of your higher self. Allow time to heal. Things are happening in the spiritual planes that you might not be aware of, and sometimes it’s good to slow down to let things recalibrate. They will fall into place on their own. Not everything needs to be out of brute force and your conscious volition.

Instead of treating yourself to a cocktail or getting a manicure, which will feed only your ego, just step back from spiritual information for a day and do something calming.

In addition, finding spiritual friends to talk to about your exhaustion is very healing. Having a conversation when you’re feeling like you’re facing an existential crisis is sometimes the only thing that will keep you sane.

Just take care of yourself, okay? Then you’ll get back in alignment before you know it.
