Are you feeling stuck? Do you feel that you are stressed, depressed, and at the mercy of the whims of other people’s decisions? I have felt this way on occasion too. You are not alone. But you also don’t have to be living this way. You can shift your mindset and live a fulfilling life of meaning anytime you feel like it, but the ability to do so lies in your willingness to let go of literally everything.

What do I mean by everything? Well, let’s see: your material possessions (that’s easy), your social or professional status in life (still easy), your relationships (now it’s getting harder), your attachment to your ego (harder still), and any notion about yourself or your existence that you have been holding onto.

Trust me, these attachments are holding you back. They are preventing your liberation. But as soon as you find a new perspective that expects nothing and judges nothing, you will realize that you were the key to your own liberation all along. And, of course, your pain will fall away. You’ll wonder how you ever came by it in the first place. I have come to the point where I am aware of my surface-self and its needs or attachments, but that it is a role I am playing in this life, and there is something higher within me that is truly me.

What I am describing is by no means easy. It’s the stuff of ancient Buddhist teachings, Vedic philosophy, and shamanic journeyers. Just by knowing that, you can tell that it’s been around a long time and that humanity has not forgotten these ideas for thousands of years — so they must have something about them which is valuable. Unfortunately, humanity seems more focused on materialism and capitalism in our current age. Great wisdom of the past has been pushed to the wayside.

Maybe it seems to you that ‘normal’ people like us would never be able to achieve true non-attachment, but please don’t listen to this voice in your head. I stopped listening to it, and when I did, I realized that anything is possible. I hold the key to my own liberation within myself and I can change my life by changing my mind at any time.

Are you human? Do you have consciousness? Then you are able to do this.

In fact, you are full of infinite possibilities.

I argue that you will never truly be you until you’ve experienced this liberation. Why? Because your pain isn’t you. You are so much more.

Let’s explore some affirmations that will help you reach your highest self. You can use these as mantras (spoken manifestations of consciousness) or just keep them in mind.

“Enlightenment is like quantum tunneling — when everyone sees walls and barriers, enlightened one sees infinite possibilities.”

Amit Ray, Enlightenment Step by Step

“I surrender to the love within me”

Infinite love and wonder are inside you; don’t seek it outside yourself. You’ve already got it. You are a manifestation of the universe and its infinite love, and you have access to that infinite love at all times. It can take practice to stop your mind from searching for the love in the world and being hurt when you are seemingly rejected. You don’t have to be vulnerable and at the whims of external forces. No matter who you are and where you are in life, you can surrender to the love within you to find lasting peace.

“I have the ultimate power of my own healing within me”

We all have trauma and hurt that we carry with us, and sometimes we hold onto it so tightly that we think it defines us. But you can let yours go. Visualize your grip on it, your source of reactions and daily perspective, and then visualize it being let go and drifting off into the expanse. It can go somewhere else. It can stay away and never return. Then, just sit in that moment of release.

“The universe is giving me exactly what I need”

At all moments, our souls are journeying through this thing called life, and we often forget to stop and wonder at it. We think that things are either random or we create our own destinies. In fact, we create all the experiences that are happening to us at some level because the great consciousness of the universe is holding us up through events and the intricacies of experience. And our journeys all point toward enlightenment and salvation. The universe guides us to succeed and at any moment it’s giving you exactly what you need for this part of your journey.

“I am one with the universe”

When you sit in stillness long enough — and I argue it doesn’t actually take that long if you’re committed to it — you will become very aware that the universe and you are one in the same. We are all connected. Your soul and mine are the same. The feeling of separateness and ego are illusions. So fear not. Live in peace. Because even a blade of grass is part of the same whole as the rest of creation.

Finally: You are Divine

When the going gets tough or you feel stuck, remember that the ability to overcome anything is already within you. You don’t need to seek help from others. Tap into your power and don’t ever give it away. Don’t give your personal power to anyone who wants to make you believe you have none. Don’t give your healing power to someone who says they know your body and soul better than you do. Keep the focus on your infinite potential.

Say these affirmations, meditate, and keep moving toward the light.

You’ve got this, friends.
