Is Utopia Possible Despite World Events?

Despite setbacks, humanity holds the potential for unity, peace, and love. Utopia is possible—if we choose collective evolution over ego.

I love humanity. Perhaps as an individual, I still get bothered by other humans who cut me off in traffic. I am still shocked at times by the behavior of world leaders and the cruelty people show each other on a daily basis. But from a higher perspective, as a whole, humanity is worthy of love. Despite all of the evidence that we’re lost, I maintain hope that our consciousness can be elevated to create a perfect society. I know that we’re here to fulfill a great destiny together.

I don’t just love humanity — I am in love with it. We are a collective mind that is here on Earth trying to figure out a way forward. Although we experience life as separate individuals, we are all on the same path of soul evolution. None of us has the full answers that we seek about life. We are all pieces of a larger puzzle. We all hold part of the key to eternity.

The joint experiences of our twists and turns toward our higher destination excite me. I am in love with the ways we learn from mistakes, the way we stumble upon discoveries of deep meaning, and our expressions of humility and love. Humanity is impressive.

Witnessing the journey of humanity is an adventure in itself. My participation in this collective mind is an act of great, unwavering love. However, with great love comes great pain. It’s difficult to witness humanity harming itself. Watching world events unfold, I become uncomfortable. It is heartbreaking at times. Humans can’t seem to get along.

When we focus our awareness on our small minds, we get sucked into material concerns. It becomes a priority to hoard resources for ourselves, to feel entitled to prosperity even if it means others will suffer, and to create separation between ourselves and others. We forget so easily that we’re all connected.

As soon as the ego sees a shiny toy that promises some kind of status or security boost, it latches on and everything else is a lower priority. People begin to feel validated in fighting for what they desperately desire: material wealth and power. It’s all so silly because, in the end, these things do not help anyone achieve happiness.

The indulgence in our individual pursuits brings discord to the world. When we shift awareness to the collective consciousness, we realize that our individual pursuits are not as important as those of the group. When we do things that help the collective evolve (however seemingly small), we are fulfilled.

Altruistic acts don’t always lead to greater individual wealth and prosperity. However, the soul reaps the benefits where the physical-level life seems to be lacking. This is what we must remember: the important things are not tangible.

In a perfect world, we all have enough. None of us is jealous of another or fighting over resources. We peacefully coexist by maintaining a great concern for our fellow humans.

I dream of Utopia: a society that is harmonious, prosperous, abundant, and peaceful. This is a possible place and state of mind for our collective. It seems to be far off right now, but it’s closer than we think. All we have to do is try to set our selfish needs aside more often so that we can come together as a society. We must celebrate the achievements of the collective in the pursuit of wisdom, truth, justice, and love. We have to let go of the constant chase for money, power, and personal security. Sometimes, this takes courage.

I love humanity, and I believe in its potential. We may be experiencing a backward swing of human achievement and prosperity right now, but I keep faith that the pendulum swings further in the other direction after it receives a bit of resistance. We are progressing, but the way upward is not linear or clear.

Setbacks are necessary so we can use them as a springboard forward. We will never desire Utopia more than now, as our freedoms seem to be slipping away. We will truly value justice if we experience an unjust society. The need for a utopian society will all become clear when we seem to have so many material achievements, but our moral and spiritual lives are falling under the waves of chaos.

The path to a perfect, harmonious society is difficult, and the responsibility to get there falls on all of our shoulders. No one has the privilege of sitting on the sidelines to assume that others will create a world of peace and prosperity. Utopia will only happen when we’ve all stepped up to accept the challenge of true love for humanity.

We will find a way forward, I know it. Humanity is strong and determined. This life is beautiful and intricate, and we will one day thrive again. Utopia is just around the next corner.
