Is time real? Time is an experience that helps us understand life as humans. Without the separation of time (and of space), we wouldn’t be able to learn soul lessons. We must have the regrets, doubts, and fears that come with uncertain futures and traumatic pasts. It’s essential for the soul to experience this separation so that it can learn about itself.
Our goal as souls is to understand that there’s nothing but the present moment so that we can experience pure love. Anything hidden from view by time — whether it be in the past or future — should not be a concern.
Although the soul knows that the present moment is eternal and nothing else exists, the human side of us — the ego— seems to constantly be distracted by the past and future. The ego likes to root itself in fear. They love to live outside the present moment.
What if that scary thing happens to me? Why did I make that decision? I should acquire insurance against the worst-case scenario. I should never trust anyone again because I have been betrayed. These are common thoughts we’ve all had that come from a place of fear, and they are rooted in our illusory sense of time.
When we learn to let go of the memories from the past that shape us and stop having expectations about the future that scare us, we are free.
We’re programmed by many generations to see time as something we’re flowing through, as if it’s linear. We feel like our paths are laid out in front of us, and they will go a certain way — but in fact, it’s all fluid. We have endless choices and possibilities in every moment.
The present moment is eternal. In it, everything happens. We just have the illusory experience of moving through time. We feel like moments are separate — that’s the definitive property of time.
So, to mentally break free and live a joyous life, we have to embrace the present moment. You have everything you need right now. There’s nothing more. And right now, your mindset of gratitude and fulfillment actually shapes your reality.
There’s no future because when you arrive at the so-called future, you’re still in the present moment. So things don’t have to get better “later”, they can be perfect right now. Whatever is in the past that’s bothering you, you have to understand that it has no effect on the way the present moment is manifesting.
Free yourself by embodying all the qualities and love that you seek in the present tense. Be love. Be grateful. Be happy for your existence at this moment. It’s hard to explain, but it really changes your reality when you start to connect this way.
When you start to see how much control you have over your own destiny — something that was always right here, not in some mysterious “future” — everything changes. You have everything you ever dreamed of right here at your fingertips, you just have to shift the way you think about time. Infinite possibilities are opening before you now and forever.
