Is Love at First Sight Real?

Every now and then, I hear someone say that love takes time. You’ll meet people who try to convince you that you can’t love someone until you get to know them. This flies in the face of what I know to be true.

I have experienced real love, and it was obvious from the first moment I came into awareness of the existence of this person. Love at first sight is real. It’s an archetype in our human consciousness, showing up in fairytales for a reason. Why would we ever deny something like this? Humanity has become too practical and cautious.

He could have been just a voice on the phone or words in a text message chat. He could have been a bald eagle or a blue-eyed husky. He could have been a hamster or a bullfrog. Doesn’t matter. The minute I would know of him, in any lifetime and in any form of manifestation, I would have loved him immediately. (And I suspect that I have many times over many incarnations.)

The first time I spoke with him, it was like we had known each other thousands of years and we’d only just left off the conversation a short time earlier. When I first saw him, it was like a light was emanating from him down the dark hallway as he approached.

I fully believe that this can happen to me again and again. I know what it feels like now — which is such a blessing — and I have this wisdom to better understand future experiences.

My point is that I know what I know. You can’t argue with me to convince me that love at first sight isn’t real. That’s just what someone says when they have never experienced real love. Us lovers? We know.

Are you with me on this?

Dating coaches may tell you that you can’t develop feelings for someone until you see them a few times. Your friends might say you don’t really know how you feel about someone until you meet them in person. Mundane people think that love means going on several dates until some spark prevails itself. Or — worse — they equate sex with love.

Lust is not love. But anyone who has never experienced love won’t know that. There is no point in even trying to explain it to them.

Love transcends physicality. When you gaze upon someone who has a soul connection with you, it’s just obvious. Immediately, you know something is different about this person. If you don’t feel this excitement and thrill of the heart opening pretty close to the beginning of meeting someone, you probably shouldn’t even waste your time. That’s my advice.

You deserve the real thing. You shouldn’t ever feel like you’re forcing something. Love does not need to be forced.

Now, I’m not saying that with real love, some people won’t take time. There are people who need time to recognize it. They have nothing to compare it with, and with no precedent for the experience, they don’t know what to make of it when it happens to them.

They may have a great feeling coming from the soul that can’t easily be integrated into their human existence. They may be so used to living from the mundane, surface-level perspective that they don’t easily accept miracles. Their soul may be screaming at them but they’re so dissociated from their soul that they can’t process it. They need time to categorize and put a name to it.

If you have spent a long time living with your heart closed, you will be emotionally unavailable. Therefore, you’ve closed yourself off from the universe sending you amazing experiences. You won’t accept the blessings. True love will be nothing but an alien to you.

So, open your heart today and invite in all the thrills that this journey of human life has to offer you. Let the universe surprise you.
