Through intention and mindset, the possibilities are endless.
It may seem strange to imagine, but our bodies are changing constantly. We’re so used to thinking about these pieces of flesh that we occupy as static. But of course, we are always aging and we have also seen how the body can heal itself. The body does amazing things without conscious mental effort. But I think we can also intentionally self-heal mentally.
Each cell has an intelligence of its own — programming, perhaps, or maybe even a will of its own — and can alter its path at any time, organizing with other cells in new ways. When a cell changes what it’s doing at a micro level, we can see its effects at a macro level.
Many ancient spiritual systems from around the world viewed the relationship of the human body to the mind differently than we are taught today by modern science. In the old days, many cultures saw the seat of consciousness as being in the heart — or even located in the whole body.
Each small part of you, down to every cell, contains your essence and your intelligence. Your mind pervades.
We could also ask why the mind has to sit in your body at all, and whether it exists beyond the confines of the body.
What I’m getting at here is this: your mind and your spirit occupy all parts of you, not just your head. You don’t feel control over many of the organs and functions in your body, but like many things in life, you manifest their behavior with your mindset.
You’ve heard of “manifesting your life”, right? People will tell you how they manifested a good relationship by stepping back and working on themselves. They’ll say that by setting an intention and visualizing the house they wanted, it appeared. These are things that spiritual people often accept. But if you can attract energy and manifest things you desire in your life, then it should be even easier to manifest a certain outcome in your body, right? We generally think we have control over our bodies more than we do, say, a whole other human being.
And yet, most people see their bodies as so far out of their control that they leave their health up to doctors and leave their beauty up to cosmetic companies. What if I told you that you can manifest these things from within?
Healing and Beauty
If you looked at photos of me from two years ago just after my marriage ended, you wouldn’t recognize me. I feel like I looked older than I do now. I was stressed and had been overeating. I didn’t have a healthy lifestyle. I was tired a lot of the time. Most importantly, I had been depressed and feeling trapped for years.
My body looks different since I’ve felt liberated. I feel like I know who I am now. I remembered.
I started loving myself more. I started a healthy lifestyle — by discovering how veganism can change my health and getting certified as a wellness instructor in the past two years.
My skin is different. My face actually looks like it’s changed over time. I can’t explain that. It feels like my eyes and nose have a different expression now. It is surprising. The shape of my face has truly shifted.
I can only explain this through my mindset change. I made new choices for myself, therefore my physical manifestation (my body) has improved as well.
I know we can heal by changing or focusing our thoughts. My friend Gosia recently wrote about how to heal illnesses through meditation. I truly believe that if I wanted to lose weight, too, I could meditate on it and make it happen. All it takes is a shift of mindset about how our thoughts impact our bodies. We have to set intentions for the health that we want in order to self-heal mentally and spiritually.
I want to glow!
It Takes Intention and Action
You show the universe that you’re ready for a change — whether it be healing or an improvement in appearance — by setting an intention and taking action. If you want to manifest anything, these two things are key to getting it started.
To be healthy, you have to commit to it and then take action.
Start a new diet or exercise program (both, preferably). Maybe you won’t see results overnight, but you’re sending a signal into the ether that you want this. You are no longer allowing the same patterns to continue.
These steps are powerful, even if it feels like the beginning of a new phase is hard to maintain. It’s easy to let yourself go and go back to your old ways because they were easier. Your intention and consistent action will make the difference. The focus shouldn’t be on the physical change itself but on what you’re doing mentally to usher in change. This is how we self-heal mentally.
Clean Your Thoughts
Your mind is everything. If you free your mind, you heal your body.
Your body and your mind are one and the same. They have a reciprocal relationship. If you disconnect from the body by leading an unhealthy lifestyle — for instance, having a cocktail or three every evening — then you’re treating yourself with disregard. You are showing the universe that you don’t care. You don’t really want to be healthy, so why would you be? Then you feel the effects mentally by feeling sorry for yourself, etc. You have no energy for what you love to do in life.
Likewise, if you have “unclean thoughts”, meaning that you are letting yourself think negatively about other people or yourself, then you are signaling to the universe that you don’t care. You don’t want to try to see your life as worth being happy about. You are allowing yourself to waste precious moments on this planet with unnecessarily harmful thoughts. If you don’t believe in yourself, your body will show it. If you don’t want to think positively, your cells react.
If you are sour, you look and you feel sour.
Diseases often begin with stress or emotions. It’s up to you to change the way you react in certain situations. Will you clear your mind of fear and allow yourself to live in peace? Will you open your heart to other people? To self-heal mentally and spiritually, we have to heal our relationships and inner thoughts.
So, stay in a gratitude mindset. Focus on what you have right now and how great things are going for you. See others as souls and forgive them. Forgive yourself. Spread love. Sadness comes and goes, but we have to stay open to miracles.
When you clean your mind, you change your body — and your life.
