I’m here to be a light in the darkness
An astrologer recently read my birth chart, and she said something that really hit me. It’s obvious from my planet placements that I am here in this lifetime to be the light in the darkness for many people. I am living my purpose right now by writing about the dark night of the soul and coaching people through their spiritual awakenings. That is quite an impactful message to get at the age of forty-two, after having tried so many types of careers and literally searching all over the globe for meaning.
Of course, I already knew my purpose was to help people find meaning. The crucial moment of my awakening in 2020 was when I had a meditative vision of myself healing people energetically, which was totally insane at the time. I couldn’t be a healer, I thought. I was a software engineer.
I had a whole life that revolved around a made-up purpose and a hypnosis of consumerism. But some part of me knew that the message was correct — I am indeed a healer. I just hadn’t figured out how to step into that role yet.
It wasn’t as far off as it seemed. It lived within me. It had been dormant my whole life until one day, it woke up. I was ready. My purpose was loud and clear. It had hidden itself in the shadows of my mind for a long time, but it was now screaming at me that I needed to change a whole lot of things and start aligning with who I really am.
I lost my job. I began writing profusely. I started meeting people who were aligned with my purpose and their own. I studied my possibilities. I pursued knowledge of the role I needed to play. I enlightened myself to the wisdom that had waited for me for years. I was a student for a while, an apprentice of life’s true calling.
I was wounded, so I healed. I was afriad, so I faced my fears. I doubted my abilities, so I began to use them, and the results were immediate.
The day I knew I was living my purpose was when things began to open up effortlessly. The universe sent me people who needed my help. I didn’t have to go searching. It wasn’t a struggle anymore. My writing was reaching the right audiences without me having to do any marketing whatsoever.
When you align with your purpose, you don’t have to do anything. Your life just begins to happen. Existence begins to make sense on its own.

The greatest indication that I was aligned was that I felt it in my heart. Joy was self-creating. I didn’t need to acquire anything to be happy. I filled my own cup.
Fulfillment is an unexpected experience if you’ve spent your life trying to be someone you’re not. If you’ve always tried to live up to other people’s expectations, you just don’t know what it means to live authentically. But as soon as you start to do it without fear, your soul recognizes that feeling — it’s pure happiness. It’s something that isn’t dependent on anything in the world outside you.
When you find your purpose, it’s not about completing your bucket list of inane activities, creating value for the world to consume, or having a career focused on status and money. It’s about a feeling. You just glow from within.
My purpose is to tell you about your purpose, so trust me, I know what I’m talking about. Do what you love to do, and you will find that barriers are removed and the path becomes easy. Let go and just fall in.
