A New Era of Feminine Energy is Imminent

The balance of male and female is tipping and the matriarchy is coming.

feminine energy

For as long as anyone alive can remember, we’ve lived in global patriarchy. Our world leaders are largely men. Women still have not achieved equality in the workplace, and the global pandemic this year has economically hit women harder than men. Female energy has been suppressed for most of human recollection — perhaps thousands of years.

People are beginning to see things shift.

The feminist movement has gained traction for about half a century. More narratives have arisen in popular culture about heroines. (Some of my favorites from in 2020 have been Mulan and Enola Holmes.)

Everywhere I turn these days, I observe women finding their voices and expressing their female power.

I believe that the scales are tipping and we are entering a new era. It’s been coming for a while.

Indigenous Peoples and Ancient Wisdom

Masculine energy hasn’t always dominated culture and society. There are spiritual balances tipping, being restored, and tipping again throughout human history.

There is evidence that at certain times there may have even been equality.

The Iroquois Tribe of North America was known for its emphasis on feminine energy and power:

Tribal Council was dominated by male speakers, but the women decided which men should be speakers. If the chosen man expressed opinions that clashed with those of the Womens’ Council, they could replace him with someone who more closely represented their views. If the Tribal Council took a course of action that the women disagreed with, such as a raid, the women might simply refuse to give them any food for the journey.

What happened to this idea of women having a place in politics and community decisions? Colonialism came with patriarchal values, and male-dominated modernity has forgotten what came before this. But our values are changing, and this past election has shown this.

What did the election prove about the power of feminine energy? If we trust women to lead, things will get better. Let us never forget that black women led grassroots organizing that resulted in many democratic victories in 2020.

I loved this article in Yes! Magazine about modern indigenous women who are bringing back the tradition of a matriarchy, where it says:

Today, contemporary Indigenous women are taking the matter into their own hands and showing the public how to rethink, reframe, and relearn a new American-Canadian story that seamlessly incorporates the voices of Indigenous women. These women are living in the tradition of their ancestors, whose societies and nations were often matriarchal. They are reclaiming the tradition of female leadership and turning the old, white, male-dominated perspective of history on its head.

Who is better suited to heal the land and restore balance in our environment than indigenous women? There is hope that with this ancient, traditional wisdom, the guidance of female energy can be restored. I believe that it’s already happening. Everywhere I turn these days, I observe women finding their voices and expressing their female power, such as in this article I read today by Bradlee Bryant.

Kamala Harris is a great example of a woman breaking through limitations that women have endured for centuries. Her success in rising to Vice Presidential status is evidence of our bright future in America. Anthea Butler of the University of Pennsylvania wrote of her:

We see in her the promise that our mothers held out for us, one our grandmothers could not even imagine. For our daughters and granddaughters, we see a brighter future.

Men can also become more accepting of their inner feminine energy, and have become open to allowing women like Kamala to emerge as leaders. Recognizing the need to balance male and female is the key to paving the way for new possibilities in society.

In ancient Chinese philosophy, yin and yang represent the balance that needs to exist between extremes:

Yin and yang create a perfect balance, the concept of duality. In a Chinese cultural study, women have yin energy while men are considered to be more yang. Women are sweet, weak, and are a positive force of preservation of life. Men are dominating, aggressive and protective towards their yin.

We’ve lived in the extreme of male energy for too long. We all know that when there is extreme unbalance in scales, they will next tip in the other direction. Masculinity has been dominant and may even be stronger in recent years than ever before — and now the time has come to embrace our femininity.

Mother Earth, the Chakras, and Shakti

We all have both female and male energy in us. In her book Wheels of Life, Anodea Judith speaks about Vishnu’s male energy entering us through the crown chakra, and Shakti’s female energy entering us through the base chakra, meeting in the heart chakra (in the middle). I interpret this to mean that the first three chakras, representing Earth, emotion, and personal power, are feminine. Thought, sound, and light, representing the fifth, sixth, and seventh chakras, are related to male energy.

The first three chakras are in the realm of feminine power; in ancient times she was called Shakti. In Hinduism, Shakti’s energy is divine feminine creative power:

According to Hindu philosophy, on the earthly plane, all forms of shakti are most tangibly manifested through females, creativity and fertility; however, males also possess shakti in a potential form which is not fully manifested. Shakti is responsible for all creation and change in existence.

The base chakra, where the feminine Shakti resides, represents solid Earth. Mother Earth, famous for being the feminine bearer of life in cultures around the world, has a connection to the female energy in us all. No wonder women are at the forefront of activism in the climate crisis. We are the stewards of the land.

Return the power to women, and we will guide us all to hope and restoration. We can begin to reverse the destruction of this planet caused by relying too much and for too long on male energy related to the highest three chakras. Mother Earth has been forgotten, but we can start to remember her.

Think with your ‘heart’, not your mind.

The patriarchy has dominated our values. Thought has been deemed good and emotion has been deemed bad. We aren’t allowed to have public emotional outbursts. Any woman working in a male-dominated field can tell you that displays of emotion and personal power are often suppressed.

I can feel a revolution of female energy arising in the world. It will take time, but women will be more and more trusted to lead, and our societal values will be transformed in the other direction. To embrace the feminine energy, we will begin to evaluate decisions and situations with our feelings and ‘heart’. Pure logic will no longer be enough to solve problems. Subtle emotional and spiritual knowledge will come to the forefront of our collective consciousness.

The Matriarchy is Coming

Get ready for tipping the balance back toward female energy.

It has been shut down in many ways, and for those alive in this age of time, there is no memory of humanity valuing free expression of it. If we begin to feel with our ‘hearts’ and return to a connection to Mother Earth, hope for humanity will begin to return.

Join me in a movement to connect with the feminine and pave the way for its acceptance on a grand scale.
